A White Christmas – Special Stake Fast

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Huntington Beach North Stake,

As we begin the Christmas season, it is easier for people to naturally turn to things of God. Individuals naturally want to reach out in service and they also respond to kind invitations. Our prophet leaders remind us of the blessing of loving, and sharing and inviting. At no time during the year is it easier to reach out to others and show our love, share feelings about the Savior, and invite them to participate with us in service, in worship and in giving.

President Nelson has invited us to participate in the Gathering of Israel on both sides of the veil. We do this by helping others come unto Christ through baptism, by encouraging others to return to temple service who have not been with us for a while, and by assisting our kindred dead by performing ordinances for them in the Temple. All of these ordinances involve the wearing of white.

We, your stake president and the mission president, would like to invite you as individuals and as families to actively participate in our White Christmas invitation preparing for a special fast this Sunday, December 4th, which is our regularly scheduled fast Sunday for the month of December. On this special day, we ask that you add to the purposes of your fast a blessing upon all of the people of the Huntington Beach North Stake, that hearts will be softened and that we as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can better show our love for the Savior and for our brothers and sisters.

We would ask that we unite our faith in requesting a blessing from heaven not just for the work of the missionaries but also for the blessing of the Lord in each of our lives that we be able to personally have missionary opportunities and the courage to follow the promptings of the Spirit to reach out to others around us.

As we do these things, our Stake will grow as members return, as new friends are baptized, and as we increase our personal focus on the Temple and on making and keeping sacred covenants. There will be a more noticeable presence of the Spirit in our lives, and we will be able to enjoy the most worthwhile White Christmas ever.

Our hope and prayer is that we will see more white in baptism and in return to temple service. We promise that our fast will be recognized by Heavenly Father, and our Stake will grow.

Sincerely,

President Morgan and President Platt
